The President of Kazakhstan stressed that over the past 25 years, relations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia are developing in a positive manner, an exchange of experience has been established, and agreements have been reached on a wide range of matters.
Nursultan Nazarbayev assured that Kazakhstan would continue to make every effort to strengthen cooperation between the countries.
In addition, the parties discussed topical issues on the agenda, including matters of regional security and the resolution of inter-confessional conflicts.
- You know that the regular round of negotiations on the Syrian conflict has been recently held in Astana. It should be noted that all representatives of the Syrian opposition took part in that meeting, the Kazakh leader said.
In his turn, Samir Al-Sabhan expressed gratitude to the President of Kazakhstan for the opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation and conveyed the words of greetings of the King of Saudi Arabia.
- We appreciate Kazakhstan’s contribution to settling the questions concerning the Islamic world, as well as the aspiration to stop the bloodshed in Syria. Regarding the Syrian issue, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia believes that such conflicts must be resolved through a political settlement. We share your vision of solving this problem exclusively by peaceful means, said Samer Al-Sabhan.
The meeting was also attended by Nurlan Onzhanov, Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Zahir bin Mutish Al-Anezi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
