Enlarged Government meeting under the chairmanship of President Nursultan Nazarbayev

November 18, 2015

The meeting focused on the country’s socio-economic development over 10 months, industrial-innovative programme, as well as the transformation programme of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund.

In his speech, Nursultan Nazarbayev noted it is important to find opportunities for the country to further develop in the current economic circumstances.

“Today, the government has cut its spending by 1.5 trillion tenge, which was done very smoothly. Despite some difficulties with the revenue budget, social guarantees are provided on time. This is very important,” he said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed the Government and the Parliament have been making significant efforts to further implement the 100 concrete steps Plan. At that it is expected that by January 1, 2016, the legal basis will be created for the implementation of institutional reforms, he said.

The Head of State noted that against the backdrop of a slowing global economy, lower commodity demand and prices, and transition to a free float mode of the national currency it is necessary to take consecutive and immediate anti-crisis measures.

The President maintained the crisis and its negative consequences are providing new opportunities to restructure national economy and improve its competitiveness.

“The time has come for the strongest companies to survive, if they confirmed their competitiveness. The rest will have to leave, instead new managers will come, bringing with them modern management technologies, new marketing strategies, and brand new specialists. These processes should be stipulated by the law, having a solid legal basis,” he said.
