Participation of Kazakhstan’s State Secretary in the 27th Congress of the World Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons held within the EXPO-2017 official events

September 1, 2017

The event was also attended by E. Birtanov, the Health Minister, prominent world and Kazakhstan’s cardio surgeons and scientists, healthcare organizers, domestic and foreign experts and medical workers.

Speaking at the Congress opening, the State Secretary read out the greetings of the President of Kazakhstan to the participants. It emphasizes that the nation’s health and the healthcare sphere development are one of the main priorities of our state. Kazakhstan is one of the few countries in the world where free highly specialized medical care is available to the entire population. The National Research Cardiac Surgery Centre carries out all types of cardio surgery operations. It has become one of the leaders not only of Kazakhstan, but also of the world’s cardiac surgery. A vivid confirmation is the global forum that brought together leading experts ready to translate knowledge and professionalism for the benefit of human health.

Today, thanks to the Densaulyk Program, Kazakhstan’s cardiac surgical service is developing rapidly. If in the early 1990s there were no more than 500 open heart surgeries in the country per year, then in 2016 it is over 12,000. Kazakhstan is on the list of the 30 best countries in terms of the level of cardio surgery.

The National Research Cardiac Surgery Centre, established in 2010, is the flagship of the national cardiac surgery. To date, 18 innovative technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases have been introduced, 2,050 unique operations have been performed, which are carried out only in 20 countries. The Centre has successfully performed 55 heart transplant operations.

For reference:
