Participation in the solemn event on the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee

The Head of State congratulated all those present on the anniversary, underscoring the special role of the Olympic movement in the modern world.

- We joined the international Olympic movement and it has become an important part of building a new independent Kazakhstan. After all, the Olympic movement is more than sports. That is philosophy of life, based on the values ​​of openness, unity, and mutual respect, physical and moral perfection. The Universiade, continental games and other competitions are held according to the Olympic model. It is the model of the Olympic champions that inspires millions of children all over the world to play sports, the President of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev, along with that, noted the proper level of preparing and holding the international sports events in our country.

- Kazakhstan has become a worthy member of the world Olympic family. We do  support the development of sport in every possible way. Our flag was raised at all the Olympics that took place over the past 25 years and the national anthem sounded proudly in honor of the victories won by our athletes. Our national team has recently clearly demonstrated its level at the Winter Universiade in Almaty, the President of Kazakhstan emphasized.

The Head of State has expressed confidence that Kazakhstan will further strengthen its positions in the world sports arena, and wished the national athletes new successes and victories.

At the end of the speech Nursultan Nazarbayev has awarded Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed As-Sabah, the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees and the honorary guest of the event, with a jubilee medal in honor of the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence.
