The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in the framework of his official visit to Russia, visited the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly, where he met with its Chairperson Valentina Matvienko, and made an entry in the Book of Honoured Guests.
During the meeting, the Head of State stressed the symbolic character of his first foreign visit to Russia, stating that it is evidence of high-end bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect and trust.
-As a new President of Kazakhstan my priority centres around guaranteeing succession Nursultan Nazarbayev’s course, who has done a lot for the development of allied relations between our countries, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Highly appreciating Valentina Matvienko’s activities as chairperson of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked the Speaker of the Federation Council for working together to strengthen inter-state parliamentary relations and fruitful cooperation via international structures.
In addition, the Head of State dwelt separately on the issues of expanding interaction within the framework of the integration agenda of the two countries.
- On May 29, Nur-Sultan submits the anniversary summit of the Eurasian Economic Union. As President of Kazakhstan, I will maximally promote the Eurasian integration growth. I believe that the parliaments of our states can play a very important role in these processes, the President of Kazakhstan said.
In turn, the Chairperson of the Council of the Federation noted the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and expressed confidence that the visit of the Head of State would give a new positive impetus to the Kazakh-Russian strategic partnership.
- I am very pleased that, despite your busy schedule, you have taken time to visit the Federation Council. I appreciate your contribution to the development of bilateral parliamentary cooperation and cooperation within the framework of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
Valentina Matvienko informed Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the scheduled IPA meeting scheduled for April of this year as well, to which the Chairwoman of the Senate of Kazakhstan’s Parliament Dariga Nazarbayeva was invited.
At the end of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation.
