Today President Nursultan Nazarbayev Takes Part in the Second Summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic Speaking States

President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev, President of the Turkish Republic Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Artur Rasizade took part in the summit. The honorable guest, President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Gurbanmyrat Mezilov attended the meeting as well. 

The head of state thanked the host country for the warm welcome. 

“It is very important for our countries to keep the peace and stability in our part of the vast Eurasian continent. Nowadays the Turkic world has chosen a way of unity and effective cooperation. The countries which established the Turkic Council became widely known to the world. The Turkic speaking states strengthen their unity and aim at cooperation and sustainable development”, Nursultan Nazarbayev underlined.   

The head of state emphasized that the member-states should implement a number of tasks. In particular, it is necessary to accomplish the process of institutional formation of the Turkic Council, as well as to expand the cultural and humanitarian integration of the member-states.

The President of Kazakhstan also stressed the need to develop the economic ties.

“Our countries should support the growth of national economies. The Turkic states have significant economic potential. We need to work on harmonization of legislation norms related to increase of mutual trade, transit traffic, border crossing, and customs control”, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President pointed out that the Central Asia is considered a bridge linking East and West, Europe and Asia.

The head of state emphasized that it is necessary to develop cultural and humanitarian ties between brotherly countries that share common language, history, and origin. The study and saving of Turkic heritage, transfer of the heritage to the next generation is a vital task for the countries-members of the Cooperation Council.

Following the summit, the Agreement on the Financial Rules of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic States, the Agreement on Establishment of Turkic Academy of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic States, the Charter of the Fund on Support of Turkic Culture and Heritage of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic States, as well as the Bishkek Declaration of the Second Summit of the Cooperation Council of the Turkic States were signed.
