President Nursultan Nazarbayev Receives HE Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, the President of the Olympic Council of Asia and Minister of National Security of the State of Kuwait.

HE Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah conferred the Order of the Olympic Council of Asia upon the President of Kazakhstan for his contribution to the development of Olympic movement in Asia.

“The Order is the supreme award of the OCA and conferred for the support of sport development on the Asian continent. As you know, VII winter Asian games will be held in Almaty in 2011 and I on behalf of the OCA express the deepest gratitude to the President and people of Kazakhstan for the preparation for the games,” the President of the Olympic Council of Asia said at a press briefing.


The Sheikh also extended greetings from His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of the State of Kuwait to the President of Kazakhstan.


”Kuwait is pleased to develop and to broaden economic, political and cultural humanitarian collaboration with Kazakhstan,” he said.


The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is the executive body of the sport movement in Asia that was authorized to control and support sport, culture and education of Asian youth. The OCA coordinates the activities of Asian countries in the field of sports at the regional and international levels, ensures regular celebration of the Asian Games every four years, and is responsible for promotion and development of the Olympic Movement and its noble ideals among Asian people.


The Order of the Olympic Council of Asia is its supreme award. It may be awarded to individuals such as Heads of State, Ministers, Persons of high dignity who have propagated the ideals of the Council and have contributed to Asian Sports.
