The State Counsellor

Gulshara Abdykalikova, Kazakhstan’s Secretary of State, meets with Behjat Al Yousuf, Rector of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (UAE)

The Secretary of State stressed that Kazakhstan pays high priority to the development of relations with the United Arab Emirates as its key partner in the Middle East.

The Secretary of State noted that it is 25 years in October 2017 since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. During that period vast experience of joint work has been accumulated, and much has been achieved in various fields.

During the meeting, issues of expanding scientific and educational cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UAE were discussed, including via joint events: conferences, trainings, seminars with the Center for Women and Technologies of the Arab Region (CWTAR).

Kazakhstan fully shares and supports the UAE policy in the field of renewable energy sources. The experience of the Emirates is a good example of how "clean" energy promotion works for economic growth. Kazakhstan is an active supporter of introducing the "green" economy, which is the main component of our industrial policy for the next decade.

The Secretary of State informed about "Women for Energy of the Future" International Forum to be held within "EXPO-2017" trade show, and which will be held from August 31 to September 1 this year. The event will discuss the role and contribution of women to promoting innovative ideas in the field of alternative energy and the "green" economy.

Gulshara Abdykalikova invited Doctor Bekhzhat al-Yusuf to take part in the Forum and expressed her confidence that the Masdar Institute, as one of the high-tech educational institutions, will make an even greater contribution to "green" technology promotion.

- We expect Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in the opening of the UAE national pavilion, the State Secretary of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova said at the end of the meeting.
