The Head of State receives Prime Minister Askar Mamin

October 26, 2020

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was informed about the measures taken to stabilize the sanitary and epidemiological situation and current issues of socio-economic development in Kazakhstan.

Askar Mamin informed the President that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country is under control. As part of the implementation of measures to ensure preparedness for a new wave of coronavirus, the work is being carried out to provide medicines to medical organizations and the population, supply ventilators and oxygen concentrators to medical institutions, equip regions with mobile diagnostic complexes, digital X-rays, mobile teams and ambulances. Currently, 10 of the 13 regions have completed the construction of modular infectious diseases hospitals, the remaining three will be put into operation by the end of November of 2020.

President Tokayev was informed about the creation of national and regional stabilization funds, which formed a two-month supply of 91 items of medicines and personal protective equipment for the health system. In order to prevent a shortage of medicines in pharmacies, an additional stock of 33 most popular drugs is formed to saturate the retail pharmacy network.

The Prime Minister informed the Head of State about the work to increase the volume of PCR testing. According to him, by increasing the number of laboratories up to 124, the population’s testing coverage has been increased by 2.5 times, and the cost of PCR tests has been reduced.

In addition, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was reported on the strengthening of sanitary and epidemiological control at border checkpoints, as well as at transport facilities. At the same time, business entities are gradually resuming their activities in regions with a “green” stable epidemiological situation, if there is no increase in COVID-19 cases.

The Prime Minister also informed President Tokayev about the measures taken to support business entities, attract foreign investment, and provide employment and other pressing issues of socio-economic development.

The President stressed the particular importance of the steady implementation of the plans outlined by the Government, taking into account the pessimistic forecasts of the Head of the WHO regarding the implications of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the coming months. It is necessary to combine strict measures to strengthen quarantine with the interests of entrepreneurs and the development of the country's economy as a whole.
