Participation in the military parade on the Day of the Fatherland Defender and the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces

May 7, 2017

The Head of State congratulated all people of Kazakhstan and the parade participants on the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces.

Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed that the largest parade is held in the history of the country's Independence, and also noted the worthy path of the Kazakh army formation and its high authority.

- More than five thousand people and 400 pieces of military equipment take part in the parade. This is the pride and glory of our valiant army. All these years the state has been providing the military with all-round support. A long way has passed from the first military formations to the creation of an effective security system. In the fateful period of the state’s formation, the Kazakh army has fulfilled its tasks with honor. Our Armed Forces have won high prestige in the country and abroad, the President of Kazakhstan said.

In addition, the Head of State dwelled on the priority areas of the Army’s modernization and defined tasks for its further growth.

- At present the Armed Forces, together with the country, are undergoing a historical stage of modernization. The fundamentally new direction of the entire force block is the fight against terrorism. Kazakhstan’s Army must keep up with the times and be ready to fight back any threat. Another key task is the strengthening of personnel. We are educating a new generation of servicemen. People in military uniform should become the standard of honor and justice, an example for future generations. It is no coincidence that cadets of "Zhas Ulan" military schools take part in the festive parade for the first time; they are a reserve of the Armed Forces. This is a good sign of continuity of army traditions and values, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President of Kazakhstan thanked the veterans of the Great Patriotic War for a peaceful life and the opportunity to build an independent and strong country.

The Kazakh leader also noted the importance of preserving peace and stability in Kazakhstan and stressed that not only the Army, but the public at large is obliged to be concerned with the security of the Motherland.

"We are on friendly terms with all our neighbors and keep in mind the wise message saying, "A single peace agreement is worth of more than hundred victories." Therefore, from generation to generation we pass our main heritage - peace, harmony and unity. The Armed Forces will always remain our main pillar of Independence, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

At the end of the speech, the President of Kazakhstan reminded servicemen of their sacred duty and called for professionalism, strengthening of the military brotherhood and unity.
