Meeting with leadership of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

During the meeting the President was informed about major results of the Foundation’s activity in 2015, as well as its current projects and medium-term goals.

As stated by Executive Director of the Foundation Sagyndyk Nurahanov, in 2015 the Foundation focused on three main areas, including financial support of artistic and scientific young talents, implementation of socially-oriented projects and charity, and analytical activity.

“This year the Foundation carried out both its customary programmes for awarding prizes, scholarships and grants, as well as a number of brand new projects. Among them, the Altyn Tobylgy literary prize, the results of which will be announced in December,” he said.

Director of Institute of World Economics and Politics Sultan Akimbekov reported on the results of the Astana Club meetings, held in November this year in Nazarbayev Center.  He noted the event brought together renowned experts from across the globe, who worked in the executive offices of heads of state and government and are currently rendering advisory support to the political elites of their countries.

Later in the day, Nursultan Nazarbayev got acquainted with the photo exhibition “Unknown Kazakhstan”, which presented unique landscapes of various regions of our country.

In 2015, the Foundation carried out 46 social, scientific and cultural events covering more than 24,500 people. Another 17 events are to be implemented until the end of the year.

As part of the annually held Fair of social ideas and projects, the Foundation provided financial support to a number of NGOs from 22 regions of Kazakhstan. Among them, the projects aimed at social adaptation and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, development of an inclusive society, strengthening of friendship, peace and harmony between people of different ethnic groups, as well as strengthening of the prestige and role of the family in society.

Almost 1,000 children from regions affected by the floods have received school bags and school supplies within the framework of the Road to School charity campaign.

At that, 300 orphans and children left without parental care received gifts arranged to coincide with the Children’s Day. 1,300 children with disabilities from the regional boarding schools took part in the Aman Keleshek cultural and sports festival.

The Foundation allocated 9 grants for creative projects and research programmes, having awarded 20 prizes to young people working in cultural and scientific fields. Traditionally, 80 active and talented students from various cities of Kazakhstan were awarded the Foundation scholarship.
