Visit to Tokai University

November 8, 2016

During the visit the Head of State inspected "Tokai Challenger" solar vehicle and had a talk with the Kazakh students getting educated under "Bolashak" Program at the University.

In his address to the staff of the higher education institution the Kazakh President drew attention to the partnership relations established between Tokai University and Nazarbayev University.

- Today Astana has become one of the largest research and education centres of Eurasia. We’ve gone ahead and make young people interested in studying at our university; we hope that the Japanese youth will get education here, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The Head of State spoke about creation in our country of two intellectually innovative clusters to form a science-oriented economy - "Astana Business Campus" high-tech park of Nazarbayev University and "Alatau" research park in Almaty.

- I invite Tokai University to joining the active co-operation with these research and innovation centres, the President of Kazakhstan said.

In conclusion, Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated those present on Tokai University’s upcoming 75th anniversary in 2017, expressing hope that the Kazakh-Japanese relations will further grow strong in all areas.

The Head of State has been given the degree of Honorary Doctor of Engineering Science at Tokai University, which is the leading research establishment in Japan.

Tokai University Rector Yamada Kiyoshi emphasized that Nursultan Nazarbayev has been awarded the diploma and medal of Doctor for his contribution to Kazakhstan’s modernization for the period of its independence, as well as the development of scientific and educational services in accordance with international standards.

- He has proclaimed significance of improving, modernizing and globalizing education and science, the natural science and technical disciplines, in particular, and a number of important political steps have been undertaken in that direction, Yamada Kiyoshi said.
