As part of the implementation of the instructions of the Head of State given during the V meeting of the National Kurultai, the Government approved the National Project «Development of Coal-Fired Generation».
The document covers a five-year period (2026 – 2030) for the development of coal-fired generation in the country and is aimed at meeting the growing demand for electricity, applying technologies to reduce negative environmental impact, and improving the quality of training for industry professionals.
Key objectives:
- construction of new generation capacities;
- modernization of existing energy assets;
- strengthening the sector’s human resources capacity;
- establishing sustainable and affordable financing mechanisms and a long-term, balanced fuel and logistics framework for coal-fired generation.
Advanced technologies will be used in the construction of new coal-fired power plants to ensure high efficiency, reduce specific emissions, and comply with environmental legislation requirements.
As a result of the implementation of the National Project, the construction of eight new energy facilities is expected to be completed, along with the modernization, expansion, reconstruction, and technical re-equipment of eleven existing energy facilities.
