Meeting of Secretary of State of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova with scientific team of Auezov Institute for Literature and Art in Almaty

 

Gulshara Abdykalikova visited the manuscripts repository storing more than 500,000 priceless sources. The fund materials entered a solid hundred-volume folklore book “Ancestral Heritage”.

During the meeting, Director of Auezov Institute for Literature and Art, Associate of the National Academy of Sciences and Doctor of Philology Ualikhan Kalizhanov shared his plans for the upcoming international conferences dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate and 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and told about the present scientific researches in cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The sides discussed modern literature and art studies of independent Kazakhstan, promotion of national spiritual values through “Kazakhstan-2050” Strategy and state-of-the-nation address “Nurly Zhol – Path to the Future”.

Gulshara Abdykalikova also visited the memorial house of Mukhtar Auezov, having signed the distinguished visitors’ book.

The Institute was found in 1934 as a Kazakh Scientific-Research Institute of National Culture. Over the years, such prominent scientists as Mukhtar Auezov, Akhmet Zhubanov and Mukhamedzhan Karatayev worked in the Institute, which today has become a major scientific center of Kazakh literature, folklore and art studies.

On the eve of the Year of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, the Institute released a series of monographs devoted to the study of folklore, literature and art of various ethnic groups living in the country, including “Dramatic art of the Kazakh people”, “The modern literature of the people of Kazakhstan”, “Astana: from geopolitical leadership to cultural diversity” and “Typology of ancient Turkic literature.”

Following the results of scientific expeditions to Uzbekistan, Russia, China and Mongolia, the Institute published a series of monographs, among which are “The Art of Kazakhs living abroad”, “Kazakh literature of foreign Kazakhs” and “Kazakh folklore abroad.”
