The Head of State held a meeting with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who is in Kazakhstan on a working visit.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that cooperation with Tatarstan occupies an important place in the entire spectrum of interaction with our main partner – the Russian Federation.
President Tokayev commended Rustam Minnikhanov’s recent visit to the Karaganda region, during which the construction of a tire production plant in the city of Saran was launched.
“We have very high hopes for this enterprise. We are grateful to you for the fact that a large group of our people went to Tatarstan for studying. I believe that this concrete project will last further. There are other projects related to the presence of not only Tatneft, but also KAMAZ on our market,” the Head of State noted.
President Tokayev expressed interest in further strengthening cultural and humanitarian contacts.
“We know and respect the Tatar culture very well. It is popular in Kazakhstan. We hope that in the near future, as soon as the pandemic is over, we will be able to agree to hold the days of culture and art of Tatarstan in Kazakhstan. We will do our best to make this event a success,” he said.
The Head of State informed Rustam Minnikhanov about the decision to assign one of the streets of Nur-Sultan the name of an outstanding representative of the Tatar people, the famous poet Gabdulla Tuqay. As President Tokayev stressed, this event will become one of the brightest symbols of cooperation between our peoples.
In turn, President Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for another opportunity to visit our country.
“Within the Russian-Kazakh relations, Tatarstan actively promotes many projects. A very solid foundation has been laid. Our First President, Mintimer Shaimiev sent his greetings to you. His contacts with First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, laid a very good foundation for our cooperation,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
During the conversation, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed measures to further strengthening trade, economic, industrial, and energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tatarstan, as well as joint efforts to countering the coronavirus pandemic.
